TBayTel is proud to be a part of Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario as a telecommunications leader, a major economic engine and a leading corporate citizen.
We care about our community and recognize that a healthy and strong community benefits everyone. TBayTel’s commitment to building strong relationships with people and community are integral to our vision of who we are, what we do and what value we offer as an organization.
One of TBayTel’s key corporate directions is to build lasting partnerships with community-based organizations and contribute a wide range of resources including sponsorships, donations, volunteers, products, service and expertise. Preference for corporate resource support is given to programs that demonstrate a commitment to building a strong, vibrant and healthy community and whose overall goals and objectives are aligned with those of TBayTel.
Who Does TBayTel Support?
Incorporated non-profit organizations and registered charities’ associated events, programs, activities, and fundraisers in the following sectors:
- Children and Youth
We invest in local programs, activities and events that nurture creativity, participation and a sense of community.
- Health and Wellness
To enhance the wellbeing of our citizens, we support locally based health organizations whose funds stay in Northwestern Ontario.
- Social Services
We fund vital programs and services that provide support and build caring communities in Northwestern Ontario.
- Sporting Teams and Events
Promoting a healthy lifestyle, participation and enthusiasm are an important part of a vibrant community. And, it’s just plain fun to cheer for the home team!
- Arts and Heritage
We help foster a dynamic arts, culture and heritage infrastructure in our community and in Northwestern Ontario that enhances quality of life and is appreciated by people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Education
We fund programs that are aimed at real needs, real skills and real benefits to students and the broader community.
- United Way
TBayTel employees volunteer and give generously to raise funds for the United Way through the Annual Employee Giving Campaign and through organized fundraising events. Organizations funded by the United Way who request TBayTel support may not receive the same priority as other requests.
As an integral part of regional development and economy, TBayTel encourages innovation and economic growth by supporting:
- Professional, Technical or Municipal Association
We support regional networking opportunities such as conferences, annual general meetings and educational workshops and seminars.
- Industry Trade Shows and Career Fairs
Events that help stimulate economic growth while showcasing opportunities, innovation and renewal in our region.
- Community Investment
TBayTel builds strategic partnerships with organizations aligned with TBayTel’s goals and objective. We endeavor to stimulate growth and innovation through improved communication technology, extending technical assistance and providing technology solutions.
The following are not eligible for support:
- Organizations in a deficit situation
- Travel and accommodation expenses
- Individual applicants or team members
- Political parties or candidates
- Religious organizations
- Private clubs or foundations
- Private or personal events (i.e. shags, retirements)
- Fraternal organizations
- Private and public schools including daycare centers, pre-school, elementary, secondary schools, and student organizations
- Organizations or programs operating outside of Canada
Support Process
Support is provided to organizations through a review process. Preference for corporate resource support is given to programs that enable TBayTel to maximize its return on investment. Where applicable, benefits to TBayTel should include but aren’t limited to:
- Media coverage and advertising
- Opportunities to showcase products and services – interactive and static
- Category exclusivity
- Access to networking opportunities
- Passes/tickets/registration to event or program
Minimally, groups or organizations requesting TBayTel support must demonstrate that they meet or exceed the following criteria:
- Objectives are clear and aligned with the goals of TBayTel’s Corporate Giving program
- Organization is financially sound and well-managed
- Event or organization has a demonstrated need within the community
- A proven ability to raise additional funds and support in the community
- Demonstrated experience or expertise in planning and holding events of similar scope or magnitude
- A proven ability to secure and reach a large audience
- Compatible target market and audience composition
- Access to paid and unpaid media to support efforts
- Provide a detailed outline of the event, activities, or group initiatives
- Provide a comprehensive plan to include TBayTel in advertising and activities
Support Request
Applications will be accepted throughout the year. Please provide as much lead-time as possible. Applicants will be notified of the status of their application upon completion of TBayTel's review.
